    Swords to Plowshares- Founded in 1974 by veterans, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides needs assessment and case management, employment and training, housing, and legal assistance to approximately 3,000 veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area each year.

    Weekend Program Monitor - Safe Haven
    $DOE (part time)

    Qualifications:
    * Associates degree, high school diploma, or GED considered with experience
    * Experience working with "hard to serve", substance abuse and mental health clients, with at least one (1) year in a human service agency
    * Maintain a courteous demeanor with professional communication style and remain calm during emergencies
    * Organized with attention to detail
    * Ability to both work independently and be a part of a team
    * Understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people
    * Ability to appropriately respond to and defuse tension using de¬escalation and conflict resolution skills
    * Commitment to helping formerly homeless people to regain and maintain their independence
    * Understanding of and experience working with issues of homelessness and recovery issues
    * Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
    * Basic computer skills
    * Ability to walk up and down stairs, sit for long periods of time, and lift up to 25 pounds
    * Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at¬risk client population, including embracing the agency's Cultural Humility Initiative

    Responsibilities:
    * Monitor the activities of program participants, residents, and their guests
    * Respond to emergencies, crisis intervention, complete appropriate documentation (incident reports and electronic shift reports) and work with staff to facilitate treatment and identify resident issues
    * Monitor the safety of the building and its inhabitants by allowing only approved individuals on-site, viewing security cameras, conducting rounds, and conducting wellness checks when appropriate
    * Accompany and supervise residents during meal times to include meal preparation and cleanup
    * Maintain complete and accurate building logs (visitor, overnight, and daily logs) and shift reports of activities, repairs, tenant requests, deliveries and services
    * Assist program participants and residents with the completion of work orders, incident reports and complaints
    * Screen all visitors to the building, maintain key control and report any concerns to Property and Program Managers
    * Respond to building emergencies in compliance with the Property Management manual

    * Engage in courteous and respectful communications with tenants and guests
    * Assist the Property Manager with administrative tasks such as ordering office supplies, photocopying and preparing charts
    * Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry and lobby

    * Follow all rules and procedures outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual and residential rules
    * Work with Maintenance and Janitorial staff and assist in inventory and ordering supplies
