    * Familiarity with a variety of electronic assembly processes including component and printed circuit boards (PCB), hand-solder, surface mount technology (SMT), through-hole, depanel, case-up, etc.
    * Knowledge of lean manufacturing, just in time (JIT) production, and kaizen practices.
    * Good hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination and the ability to use tools to assemble small parts.
    * Ability to read and interpret detailed schematics, blueprints, work orders, etc.

    Position Purpose:
    Test, troubleshot, and as directed, repair and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, and test equipment, applying principles and theories of electronics, electronics circuitry, and electronic systems testing.
    Typical Job Duties:
    1. Test electronic units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment.
    2. Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.
    3. Read blue prints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronics theory and components.
    4. Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working independently, and with engineers when necessary.
    5. Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment.
    6. Assemble, test, and maintain test equipment or electronic systems according to engineering instructions.
    7. Maintain inventory of test equipment and related documentation, such as calibration status, and location of equipment.
    8. Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment, tools or software by reading or attending, workshops or other training.
    9. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
    10. Other duties may be assigned to meet organizational requirements.

    Reporting Relationships:
    The Electronics Technician reports directly to the Test Operations Manager, the shift team leader, and usually works under directions of the engineering staff.

    Qualifications:
    Education: A two year degree from an accredited Electrical Engineering Technical School or five years of related work experience working with electronic equipment, and computers.
    Job Knowledge/Skills Required:
    1. Electronics and Computer- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
    2. Testing and Processing- Knowledge of incoming test requirements, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effectiveness of the testing process.
    3. Troubleshooting to Component Level- Identify which circuit component needs to be replaced or repaired in an electronic circuit.
    4. Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
    5. Equipment Selection- Determine the type of tools and equipment is needed to perform a job.
    6. Time Management- Make best use of your time while on company time.
    7. Reading Comprehension- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
