    Job Description:

    Product Support Engineer
    Job Description:
    The primary responsibilities for the position of Product Support Engineer will be to support product development prototyping, testing/analysis, test method development for products within our respirator lab. This person will actively support programs in both Technology Development and Soft Goods Product Development primarily involving disposable and reusable respirator platforms. The person hired for the position will be a highly motivated and organized individual who drives understanding in our new and existing products in support of growing the respiratory PPE business. Attention to detail, accuracy and timely completion of tasks are all critical aspects of this position.

    Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
    Make and optimize respirator samples and prototypes using a variety of equipment
    Manage testing requests and work with lab personnel to prioritize and execute testing needs
    Help conduct, maintain and calibrate testing equipment
    Initiate and update test methods in support of product testing
    Complete tests such as: mechanical properties testing, filter performance, respirator fit testing, shelf life, etc.
    Test and confirm product performance and communicate results in both oral and written form.
    Create data summaries of testing results: spreadsheets, plots/graphs
    Help Create or modify test methods in support of testing or project activities.
    Lab upkeep coordinator: Maintain cleanliness of lab space, perform hazard reviews
    Submit properly labeled chemical waste for removal
    All laboratory activities will follow 3M Corporate Laboratory and Safety procedures. Specific training will be provided for all tasks.

    Basic Qualifications:
    Minimum of one year laboratory testing experience
    Expertise with Microsoft office software and data analysis packages.

    * Working with R&D and manufacturing teams, management of new product industrialization and control procedures, as well as ensuring work is completed in the required time frame and budget requirements.
    * Highly competent in web processing and thin film liquid coating and laminating processes including coating methodologies such as gravure and slot dies. This includes finishing through drying ovens as well as tension controls that will produce consistently good product rolls
    * Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully function in a cross functional manufacturing environment
    * Expertise in other processing methods such as vacuum sputter coating also preferred.

    Summary

    The Valve Technician will perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting / assessment, and repair work on valves (Block and / or PSV) based on the associated skill level traveling to / from customer sites and / service center. Primary job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    Interface with customer plant personnel and Control Southern personnel to perform hands-on workshop and / or on-site valve troubleshooting / assessment, maintenance, testing (pre / post), and / or repair of valves and actuators.
    Perform PSV testing utilizing certified test equipment and complete all QA / QC documentation as required by the VR program (if skilled).
    Perform hands-on workshop and / or on-site disassemble, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of valves and actuators. Machine material and / or parts with various machining equipment.
    Ensure work and used materials are in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
    Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required including completion of applicable quality documentation in either paper or electronic form.
    Perform failure assessments and make recommendations to the on-site Control Southern supervisor as required.
    Perform day-to-day and routine safety observations and inspections.

    Qualifications / Required Skills

    The ideal candidate should have strong skills in the following:

    High School diploma, or GED equivalent
    Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
    Strong analytically skills with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose systemic problems.
    Ability to organize and prioritize workload to maximize efficiency.

    Willing to be trained in skills other than the primary skill.
    Familiar with NBIC and ASME codes and their applications.

    Additional Requirements

    Must be capable to work in conditions that are consistent with a manufacturing and service organization consisting of work environments ranging from a workshop to on-site at a heavy industry facility. A variety of tools and processes will be encountered by the selected candidate and work will involve frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
