    Job Description:
    The Field Monitor Trainee position provides the employee with transferable skills in an internship-style position while meeting an SFMTA operational need. The Field Monitor Trainee will go to construction sites using public transportation and walking (roughly four miles), observe what is taking place throughout the construction site (including unleveled ground, muddy surfaces), document and photograph observations, input observations into an Internet-based database, and discuss observations with colleagues. The Field Monitor Trainee will check in with the Superintendent and/or Foreperson on the construction site. The Field Monitor Trainee will not interact with workers on the construction site. The Field Monitor Trainee must be able to walk safely in a construction site while taking photos and notes. The Field Monitor Trainee is not to make personal texts and telephone calls during the workday (except in the event of an emergency). The Field Monitor Trainee is NOT an employee of SFMTA. The Field Monitor Trainee is an employee of a private firm working on the Central Subway Project.

    Work Hours:
    This position is designed to last for 12 months. This is a full time (40 hours per week) position. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch, a 15 minute morning break, and a 15 minute afternoon break [possibly 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., depending on office needs and scheduled at least one week in advance].

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Ability to: conduct research; observe details; document observations; remain focused on a task for one-hour
    Aptitude for analyzing tables and charts
    Experience using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office products, and the Internet
    Strong written and oral communication skills
    Conflict resolution skills
