An immediate opening is available for an Environmental, Health and Safety Management (EHS) Manager. The EHS Manager position is a key member of the Site Management team and is a highly visible position. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the design and implementation of an EHS system at the site level.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing environmental, safety, and health programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as Company requirements
The ideal candidate is an engaging leader with the ability to promote, champion, train, and ensure compliance and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, as well as applicable legislation and government regulations. He/she is a natural leader who excels at communicating with all levels of the organization including branch managers and employees, and senior management. This individual maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*Manage the development, implementation and compliance of safety programs and work procedures, associated with federal, state, and local regulations and Company policies. Develop a safety culture comprised of management engagement with employees to foster a safety first culture.
*Develop safety communication/reporting processes and safety strategies and oversee their implementation
*Manage the EHS staff
*Prepare, implement, and review EHS manuals, programs, procedures, and standards.
*Prepare, schedule, and conduct emergency drills and exercises
*Provide status updates and recommendations to senior management on program and policy development for health, safety and environmental compliance programs. Analyze, summarize, and report all necessary EHS data to the Senior Manager.
*Maintain a daily plant presence including conducting inspections, training, and verifying compliance
*Maintain effective communication with all levels of employees, management and applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies and consultants
*Coordinate audits and agency inspections
*Provide technical or resource assistance to Management and staff when called on for assistance
*Oversee permitting - research needs, identify conditions, prepare applications, manage compliance with permit conditions, and resolve issues
*Act as EHS/Safety contact for the HazMat ICS (Incident Command System) structure for any emergency response incidents
*Lead analysis and evaluation of compliance issues related to operations and develop/implement corrective action to resolve potential problems
EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline, from an accredited academic institution is required.
A minimum of 10 years of previous successful work experience in a safety compliance management position is required.
Must demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of OSHA regulations. DOT and USCG experience is a plus. Familiarity with PSM and RMP regulations is a plus. CSP, CIH, or CHMM is preferred.
