Drafter (CAD GIS)
Manpower is seeking to hire Drafter (CAD GIS) to fulfill an 8-month contract in Chatham, ON.
Responsibilities include:
*Accountable for design and drafting requirements using CAD & GIS software to create pipeline & station project drawings (mechanical, route selection maps, details, electrical, civil, typical's ASbuilts, composites, etc.) through the application of Union Gas principles & practices to create, edit and maintain safe, compliant, cost effective and efficient designs.
*Coordination and oversight of third party design consultants with respect to pipeline and major station designs to ensure that the designs follow the intent and Union Gas standards and specifications.
*Research and assemble all pertinent and relevant information (design criteria, parameters, material requisitions, documents, Bill of Materials, etc.) to be used for engineering designs. The responsibility extends to the coordination and prioritization of tasks and work across multiple client groups, internal and external to Union Gas.
*Support and/or lead the coordination of Pipelines, Stations, Odourant Sites, Compressors and Boilers projects. This will involve attending on site planning and investigation meetings and may extend to site coordination and inspection. The role is responsible to work with the engineering & technical support team to provide technical drawings/designs for projects.
*Responsible to support corporate manuals (Station, Isometric, C&M, Portal, etc.) and programs by preparing, creating and editing technical drawings & details.
*Identifies improvements in process, practice and systems of design requirements, new equipment, innovative technologies, vendor materials, fabrication methods, Code/Compliance requirements through the attendance of meetings, seminars, conferences, site visits, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements
*College diploma or university degree in a technical/engineering program, with a preference in Mechanical, Electrical, Architecture or Civil Disciplines
*Prior technical experience applying engineering principles to designs and drawings
*Experience designing and drafting natural gas or related facilities
*Solid understanding of industrial measuring devices (i.e. mechanical, pressure, temperature, flow, electrical, level).
*Excellent technical design and drafting skills using CAD & GIS
*Demonstrated ability to interpret and discern engineering drawings and technical documents
*Ability to exhibit solid written and verbal interpersonal communication skills with internal Union Gas employees as well as external contractors, vendors and customers.
*Ability to work independently in a team setting, with minimal supervision.
*Desirable to have OACETT - A.SC.T or C.E.T
*Desirable to have TSSA - Gas Pipeline inspector
*Experience with Bentley Products (PlantSpace, OpenPlant, MicroStation, ProjectWise), Intergraph GTechnology products preferred, and/or Autocad products (AutoPlant)
*Previous direct construction work experience as an inspector, project coordination, surveyor or layout/stakeout person
