Job Description

Engineering Technician

Work from board schematics, assembly drawings, diagrams, written, or verbal descriptions or defined test plans to perform test/debug and design verification functions. Work to become proficient with computer resources, test tools and applications. Gain proficiency in the use of test equipment. Perform testing of components and assemblies, and demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate test configurations and calibration of test setups and generate reports from gathered data. Demonstrate understanding of Basic electronics, Radio fundamentals, and Digital electronics concepts. Assist in determining methods or actions to isolate and remedy malfunctions of either unit under test or automated test set-ups. Apply basic mathematics, engineering, and physics principles to make decisions in debugging new circuit designs. Work on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required, normally receiving detailed instructions on tasks. Run verification programs and debug errors on automated test racks. Activities may include RF and/or Digital design verification testing, debug and analysis. Test, modification, or fabrication of prototype systems experimental circuits or fixtures. Applications may include RF, analog, digital, video, or logic systems. Work is done under the direct supervision of project personnel.

A strong foundation of electronic theory with the ability to understand circuit functions from written or verbal instructions. Strong functional understanding of general RF and Digital test equipment. A background of education including: Basic electronics, Radio fundamentals, Digital concepts, math, physics, scientific notations, trigonometric functions, algebra, exponents, logarithms and manipulation of equations is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team

Education:

Associate EET or two year technical degree, trade school, or related military training with up to 3 years of experience in an electronics R & D, production or repair shop environment preferred.
